Life as it should be
Ask not what good but ask why
Think not of baser joys but of ecstasy derived
Climb not the slopes of the steep but ever so populous mountains
Which promise the conqueror a venerated place,
But traverse the desolate and dusty road
Meandering away treacherous and unending into times ahead
If so the heart desireth
Live life not to emulate history
Though safe a goal it may be
Be not afraid to defy old gravitation
And take a leap to reach the stars,
To wrestle for yourself what you glimpsed
In the midst of an impossible dream
Think not of baser joys but of ecstasy derived
Climb not the slopes of the steep but ever so populous mountains
Which promise the conqueror a venerated place,
But traverse the desolate and dusty road
Meandering away treacherous and unending into times ahead
If so the heart desireth
Live life not to emulate history
Though safe a goal it may be
Be not afraid to defy old gravitation
And take a leap to reach the stars,
To wrestle for yourself what you glimpsed
In the midst of an impossible dream

I like the last stanza very much..
"Live life not to emulate history
Though safe a goal it may be"
for some reason, i'm reminded of all those weird acts people do to get into the Guinness book..
"Live life not to emulate history

Moi loved this as well! Its hard to imagine how hard it is to do a thing out of box!
@ satyajit
That was not what I had actually meant it to be. I'd talked about following your own path-- not necessaryily be a dcoctor engineer etc etc
@ candid..
Thanks. More than it being hard it is the lack of courage that stops the imagination.
Really interesting poem.. Esp liked the first line and the last few.. "Take a leap to reach the stars... ".. pretty soulful! :)
@ ruchika
Thanks for the encouraging words. The last lines you menationed -- I had derived a lot of pleasure after coining them.
